Human Resources

From the job posting to the payslip, one record per person.

Odoo's HR apps follow a person through their time with you: the job posting and the interview, the contract and onboarding, leave and attendance, appraisals, and pay. Employees, Recruitment, Time Off, Appraisals, Payroll and Fleet share the same employee record, so HR does not copy details from one tool to the next.

Payroll rules are country-specific. Odoo's Payroll page names India among its localisations and does not mention Sri Lanka, which we cover below.

What it does

People work, kept in one place.

HR work is mostly the same few facts, in several places: who someone is, when they are away, what they are paid and how they are doing. Odoo's HR apps keep those facts together.

01Every person in one record
A manager sees their department at a glance, sorted by working hours, job title or contract status, and sensitive details such as emergency contacts and visa information are protected by restricted access.
02Hiring as a pipeline
Job postings, applicants, interviews and offers sit on one pipeline, and a candidate becomes an employee, and starts onboarding, from the same app.
03Leave that updates everything
A time-off request updates timesheets, attendance, payroll and balances in real time, with approval rules you define.
04Feedback on a schedule
Appraisals run on cycles you set, with 360-degree feedback from self, peers and managers.
05Pay from the same facts
Payroll pulls attendance, expenses and time off from the other apps and applies the rules of the country you choose.
06Vehicles and their costs
Fleet tracks vehicles, contracts, drivers and running costs, with recurring costs posting to accounting.

The people directory the rest of HR is built on

One record per person, with the right privacy.

  • Give managers a department overview, sortable by working hours, job title or contract status.
  • Restrict access to sensitive details such as emergency contacts and visa information.
  • Record each person's skills, so you can find the right person for a need.
  • Store contracts and other files, and request digital signatures, from the employee record.
  • Onboarding plans assign activities to new hires, and an organisation chart shows each team's hierarchy.
  • A presence report shows who is in, and attendance records can be tracked and analysed.
What you’re looking at

A profile, not a spreadsheet row

Everything about a person sits behind one profile: their skills, documents, leave and manager, shown only to the people who should see it.

A worked example

A new hire, from posting to first payslip.

One person followed through the apps, from what Odoo's pages say each one does. It is an illustration, not a promise of any particular set-up.

  1. Role advertisedA job posting collects applications online.
  2. InterviewedCandidates book interview slots and move through stages.
  3. Offer signedA job offer and contract are signed online.
  4. Employee onboardedThe candidate becomes an employee with an onboarding plan.
  5. PaidAttendance, leave and expenses feed the payslip.

Illustrative. A real project decides which steps are automated and who approves each one.

Questions

Straight answers.

Does Odoo Payroll cover India?

Odoo's Payroll page lists India among its pre-configured localisations, and its Odoo 20 release notes list India among the payroll localisations updated for compliance and salary-rule changes.

Does it cover Sri Lanka?

Odoo's Payroll page does not mention Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka section of the Odoo 20 release notes, which announces a new accounting localisation, does not cover payroll. We would scope Sri Lankan statutory payroll rules with you before committing to a plan.

How are employees counted for licensing?

Odoo's pricing page counts a person with backend access, or an employee record with no linked user, as a paying user. It also describes a lower-priced Light User type for self-service roles such as time off, expenses, appraisals, attendances and payslips, quoted by an Odoo advisor. Customers and suppliers on the portal are not paying users.

Is sensitive information protected?

Odoo's Employees page describes restricted access settings for details such as emergency contacts and visa information, so only the right people see them.

Can candidates book their own interviews?

Yes. Odoo's Recruitment page says candidates can choose interview times online and that calendar integration prevents double booking.

Do I need all six apps?

No. Each works on its own, and they share the employee record when you add more. Odoo's pricing page says you can start with any app.
